One way to turn a negative into a positive is to focus on what you learned about yourself and your needs while you were in this role, and how you hope to implement those learnings in your next role. Even if your reason for leaving a job skews negative, try to stay positive when talking about it. Some potential employers will conduct background checks or will reach out to previous employers to verify past roles, and bending the truth may not be the best way to enter a relationship with a future employer.Ģ. It’s important to be honest as you share details about your career path. Here are a few quick tips to frame your exits as growth opportunities:ġ. Ultimately, leaving jobs is a natural part of career progression-you can't grow if everything stays the same. Learn more: When Is It Time to Quit Your Job? Tips for talking about why you left a job We'll take a closer look at how to talk about each of these types of reasons later in this article, but first, let's explore some general tips for talking about why you're leaving a job. These reasons each fit into one of the four broad categories: seeking growth, company culture, organizational changes, or personal reasons. Reflecting deeply and specifically can help you recognize red flags and identify green flags.Īs you reflect on what's missing with your current employer, it may help to consider some common reasons people leave jobs:Ĭompany restructure, acquisition, or merger Naming the aspects of your current position that you'd like to change can help you recognize why you are leaving a job as well as what you may want to look for in a future role. But again, you really shouldn't be compressing to mp3 in the first place, unless you're one of the few who still has an "mp3 player" that doesn't support AAC. Regardless of how nice the user interface and how easy it is to use, I won't be using or recommending it.įor those who are still compressing to mp3 (which is a really foolish thing to do in this day and age - mp3 was abandoned years ago by the standards bodies in favor of AAC because of mp3's mediocre performance characteristics), MH might be a simple and easy to use option. MH eliminates that AAC advantage altogether by, apparently, imposing its own 20kHz filter on AAC conversions, and I can't condemn that in strong enough words. AAC is a lossy format, but nearly as lossy as mp3. Part of the reason AAC sounds better than mp3 is it has superior audio spectrum. One thing to note about MediaHuman Audio Converter is its ease-of-use, thanks to the very simple user interface layout. It supports MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG/Vorbis and AIFF audio files. But it was long ago discovered that the original thinking was flawed because it doesn't take into spacial characteristics (sound stage) and high frequency harmonic distortion, etc. MediaHuman Audio Converter is an easy-to-use tool which can convert your audio files between multiple different audio formats. This free audio converter service will convert the most common audio formats, so long as they dont exceed 150 MB. For that reason mp3 filters everything above 20kHz. Granted, the human ear can't hear above 20kHz anyway, and that was the original rational used by the standards bodies when they came up with mp3 in 1993 in the first place. If you plot spectrum of the vast majority of iTunes Store purchases you'll find that the spectrum extends to a minimum of 21kHz, and many extend to 22kHz. MediaHuman Audio Converter is distributed as a freeware application, so you dont have to pay for it, unless you want to make a donation. The conversion with MH yields results which would lead one to believe it's actually using an mp3 codec instead of AAC, with the sharp 20kHz cutoff characteristic of mp3. True to form, XLD yields audio spectrum results that are as close to the original flac as one could hope for (btw, this is only possible if you compress to AAC - mp3 isn't capable of that). For comparison I use Spek, as well as the Plot Spectrum feature in Audacity. I was recently asked my opinion of MediaHuman Audio Converter for compressing flac to AAC/m4a. Le Convertisseur Audio MediaHuman est une application gratuite pour Mac OS X et Windows. It can help you in case you need to convert. Browse to the folder with your audio files and. Download MediaHuman Audio Converter for Mac Direct link MediaHuman Audio Converter is a freeware for Mac OS X. I've come to depend on it for yielding the best possible audio results. Start MediaHuman Audio Converter and press Add button on the toolbar to add some WMA files for conversion. I'm a long-time and regular user of XLD and have come to appreciate its features and versatility. So, they’re catching it and discovering it for the first time in different places. Even today during the livestream, I had people texting me, I’m thinking of livestream that they’re watching now on Fios. I’m sure that you get a lot of anecdotal feedback from viewers, but I wonder how are they telling you that they’re finding this channel? I understand you’ve also occasionally cross-pollinated content with Fox News around major weather events. And that was a really efficient tool for us in Hurricane Ian.Īnd Fox Weather has gotten a nice push out of the gate by being simulcast weekend mornings on Fox Business from 6 to 9 a.m. The other thing that’s been pretty important for us is the Fox Weather model, which is forecasting a set of data that allows us to forecast where the storms are going to be next, where they are going to be the most powerful. I think that piece of technology is vital. So, it kind of does all the things that people would like to have at their fingertips at once. And it also gives you within like two seconds of opening the app, a stream of weather coverage of whatever major events going on. It also allows you to forecast like never before because we’re giving you long-term forecasting data within that app. And it’s an app that allows people to use real time weather data. 1 thing because that puts weather at people’s fingertips. Well, without a question, the Fox Weather app is the No. Which ones have been the real differentiators for you in terms of being able to give something that’s really unique to your audience? You also launched with a lot of very fancy weather tools in your arsenal there. You had an immediate baptism by fire essentially when you launched. So, I think the overwhelming headline for me as Fox Weather’s debuted is the amount of significant weather we have been able to cover. We had huge, severe storms across portions of the Midwest late into last year. We were covering it, the Pacific Northwest. We can even go back into our opening months where we had the atmospheric river. That is just looking at sort of 10 months of the year. These are disasters that cost $1 billion or more. I mean, if you look at even just this year or 2022, there have been $15 billion weather events. I think what’s been probably the biggest headline for me in the last 12 months is how many weather events we have been covering. What has surprised you most about the experience? Not many people get to be there at the launch of a national weather channel. It has been one year of Fox Weather to which you came from, I believe, WABC in New York. I know sometimes in television people make up their names or adjust their name, so maybe it’s easier for people to remember to say. He’s passed down a long line of jokes to me, so it’s fine to talk about it and I love it. And you know what? I do like to talk about my name because it’s the one I was born with. I love that, thank you for the introduction. And just to get this out there up front, she has the best name ever for someone doing the weather on TV, though I’m sure she’s absolutely sick of hearing about that from people.Īmy Freeze: Hi, Michael. In addition to her role as a meteorologist there, Amy is also presenting a special on the 10-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy on Fox Weather this week. Forty of them are meteorologists, and one of them is Amy Freeze, my guest today. Since its debut, Fox Weather has seen 2 million downloads of its app since the launch. The new network - or service or digital offering or FAST channel or all of the above, depending on your taxonomies - has caused a major change in the landscape of TV weather. In the moveable do system, there happens to be a correspondence between the solfege symbol and a pitch's role. In the fixed- do system the solfege symbols clearly do not describe the role of pitches relative to the tonic. In contrast, fixed- do solfege symbols are simply labels for absolute pitches ( do=C, re=D, etc., in any key). Functional pitch recognition emphasizes the role of a pitch with respect to the tonic. Note that functional pitch recognition should not be confused with the fixed- do solfege symbols, do, re, mi, etc. Using such systems, pitches with identical functions (the key note or tonic, for example) are associated with identical labels ( 1 or do, for example). To this end, scale-degree numbers or movable- do solmization ( do, re, mi, etc.) can be quite helpful. Many musicians use functional pitch recognition in order to identify, understand, and appreciate the roles and meanings of pitches within a key. No reference to any other pitch is required to establish this fact. Once the tonic has been established, each subsequent pitch may then be recognized in isolation with no need for reference to accompanying pitches.įor example, once the tonic G has been established, listeners may recognize that the pitch D plays the role of the dominant in the key of G. Functional pitch recognition involves identifying the function or role of a single pitch in the context of an established tonic. Functional pitch recognition is an important skill for all musicians listening to and performing tonal music. It’s broadcasting every hour of the day, and once you start it’s surprisingly hard to stop. Structured into two ‘channels’ (with a third to be added sometime after launch), GHTV livestreams blocks of scheduled, always-running music in programmed playlists with names like ‘90s Blockbusters’, ‘Metal Mayhem’, and ‘Pop Workout’. It’s also the part that could prove the most divisive for series fans, given it completely does away with the traditional approach to song DLC. I Want My GHTVThe online-only GHTV mode is where the real depth of Guitar Hero Live lies. But GH Live ultimately only served up an evening’s worth of shallow entertainment that I burned through as fast as I could mainly just to unlock its 42 songs (the only ones actually on the disc) for the quickplay mode. Rock Band’s trick of getting audiences to sing along has been appropriated by GH Live, only in this instance you can actually look out on a sea of real faces singing back at you, which does feel pretty fantastic. The live performances are technically impressive, but you never feel connected to your bandmates. In fact, I felt more of a relationship with the crowd. I didn’t feel like part of the band I felt like a total stranger. So little context is given between sets – just some brief radio DJ banter and a few fake fan tweets – that when you’re just shunted from band to band every three songs there’s never any sense of camaraderie on stage. No, the problem is that I simply didn’t care about them. The problem with GH Live is not the overly cheesy vamping of the live-action bandmates around you, nor is it the way they dynamically chastise you when you flub a solo. This is the mode that drops you into the shoes of the guitarist in about a dozen different fictional bands across two music festivals, experiencing each three-song mini-set as a first-person shredder. Stage DiveMy enthusiasm for this exciting new era of Guitar Heroism took a temporary dip, however, once I hopped into the career mode, GH Live. Not only does this reconfigured button grouping keep your fretting hand rooted to the one spot, meaning your eyes never need to leave the screen, it just feels like a better approximation of actually playing the guitar - especially on the upper difficulty levels where the chord shapes and ascending and descending hammer-ons and pull-offs feel particularly analogous to the real thing. It takes time to adapt from coloured buttons to monochrome, but it's ultimately a change for the better.Yet at some point during my first late night it suddenly clicked, and now I feel like it would be a real step backwards to ever return to the old five-button design. At speed, it was tough for me to distinguish one black button from another, and hopping back and forth between the two rows almost always ended in me fumbling the transition and killing my multiplier. As someone who’s been playing GH games since banging out those first few power chords of I Love Rock and Roll in the original, I initially struggled to get to grips with the new button layout. Developer FreeStyle Games has refreshed the Guitar Hero experience considerably by adding a sixth button and splitting the frets into two rows: three black buttons, and three white. Peripheral VisionIt all starts with that new controller. The sum total is a largely enjoyable return to the stage for the series that once started a music game revolution. This daring new streaming service works in tandem with a substantially redesigned guitar controller to compensate for a disappointing career mode and underdeveloped local multiplayer. Are you ready to rock? Well you’d better be, because Guitar Hero Live practically insists that you remain glued to the fretboard 24/7 with its addictive, always-on GHTV mode. It even takes into account smaller details like taxes, licenses, and office supplies, so nothing slips through the cracks.
